Silver Lake to spray for mosquitoes Tuesday

The city of Silver Lake will spray for mosquitoes Tuesday, June 30. Spraying is typically done after sundown. In case of rain, the spraying will be postponed one day. For more information, call Clark Environmental Services at 800-715-2159. Other spray dates are July 14 and 28, and Aug. 11 and 25.

Stewartfest 2015 set for June 27-28

The annual Stewartfest celebration is set for Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, in Stewart.
 
A pre-celebration event will be state-qualifier baseball games Friday, June 26, with games at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The tournament will continue throughout the weekend.
 

24 Brownton seniors met on Monday

Twenty-four Brownton senior citizens met Monday, June 22, at the Brownton Community Center.
 
Cards were played after the meeting with the following winners — 500, Carol Brelje, first, and Eleanora Lamp, second; pinochle, Phyllis Mahnke, first, and Betty Katzenmeyer, second; and sheephead, Pearl Streu, first, and Elva Wendlandt, second.
 
Bernetta Alsleben won the door prize. Ordell Schmidt served refreshments.

Brelje makes St. Kate’s list

Holly Brelje, daughter of Jon and Cheryl Templin and Mike Jackson, was named to the St. Catherine University dean’s list for fall 2014. Brelje is a senior majoring in radiography. To qualify for the list, students must achieve a GPA of 3.667 or higher. 

Sikkila makes dean’s list
