I was eating my bowl of cereal last Wednesday morning, watching the latest excuse for coverage of the Republican presidential “debate.” I thought my milk was going to curdle as the candidates continued taunting each other like little kids in the school yard.
And one of these wants to lead the free world!
I usually watch the TV headlines before I head out for my morning walk. I debated whether to even go with the drizzling rain coming down, but a walk is my way of forcing myself out of bed and into another day.

The Glencoe City Council heard that the plan review of the Armstrong Avenue project is moving along at its Monday night meeting.
The city will hold afternoon and early evening open houses on the project on Wednesday, Jan. 6.
City Administrator Mark Larson said the Council will likely set a bid opening date for the project at the Jan. 19 City Council meeting.
In a separate motion, the Council passed a resolution to restrict parking on the east side of Armstrong Avenue from Twin Cities Western Railroad to 11th Street.

What started as a way to heal cracked hands has developed into a family effort that heals the whole of a family farm.
Fifteen-year-old Eddie Becker of Glencoe started the company Eddie’s Goat Milk Goods back in February. The idea came about when Eddie, who experienced chapped hands in the winter, started looking for a solution. After trying everything in the store, he turned to his pet goats for the answer.
Using the milk from his goats and playing around with recipes, Eddie created a lotion that worked not only for him, but others as well.

McLeod County commissioners and elected officials were awarded raises at the Dec. 15 County Board meeting.
The raises amount to 2 percent plus 20 cents per hour, which is equivalent to what other county employees received.
Commissioner Doug Krueger voted against the commissioner raises, saying he could not vote for a raise for himself when he voted against a levy increase. Krueger felt the county has not done enough to curtail spending.

Glencoe-Silver Lake’s (GSL) Knowledge Bowl teams attend two different types of meets. The ones within GSL’s region include schools like Hutchinson, New London-Spicer, Willmar, Ortonville and Lac qui Parle Valley. The meets are relatively small. However, sometimes the teams go outside their region, where they meet teams from other parts of the state, and the meets may be much larger.
