Brownton to see 8.45% levy hike, increases in water, sewer rates

The Brownton City Council managed to shave its proposed 10 percent levy for 2016 increase to 8.45 percent at its Tuesday, Dec. 8, meeting.

City Clerk Ella Kruse said the major reasons for the levy increase were payments on a new fire truck and a newer snowplow truck.

Kruse said that payments on a payloader will end in 2016, and the city may be able to look at lowering its budget for 2017 after that payment comes off the books.
