Trailblazer Board continues to ponder workplace issues

Sand Creek Group, which Trailblazer Transit hired to help it deal with its workplace environment, has withdrawn its services.
 
And Trailblazer’s executive assistant, Cindy Posivio, has resigned.
 
Both items were discussed as the Joint Powers Board met Thursday morning.
 

County Board declines to hire HHW manager

A proposal to hire a manager for McLeod County’s household hazardous waste (HHW) facility failed on a 3-2 vote Tuesday, June 21.
 
The county’s staffing committee recommended approving the new position, rather than hire a HHW technician. The resignation of a technician is what brought the matter before the staffing committee.
 

County focuses on education regarding AIS

McLeod County Environmental Services has been working the past two years to educate the public on the issue of aquatic invasive species (AIS) in area waterways.
 
On Tuesday, June 21, the McLeod County Board heard an update on the success of that public education program, aided in part by a survey to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
 

Miller Manufacturing hosts 75th anniversary

After 75 years and several expansions, Miller Manufacturing has good reason to celebrate. The company hosted an open house on Friday, June 24, to mark its 75th anniversary.  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dan Ferrise gave a presentation on the history of the company and guests were taken on tours of the facility.
 
Miller Manufacturing began in 1941 when founder Barney Miller began selling poultry fountains. Current CEO Ferrise said the original product is still sold today.
