Eva Rodriguez, 64, of Glencoe, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18 at her residence.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted. Santos Pelcastre will be the speaker.

GSL gears up for fall season

The Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team got into the spirit of things during a recent practice. The Panthers open their season this coming Tuesday.

Tuesday night is race night at Buffalo Creek BMX

It was another evening of spirited competition at the Buffalo Creek BMX track in Glencoe on Aug. 6, as racers of all ages got their bike on in one of nine races. Pictured above from left to right, Danica Vinkemeier, Jackson Ewert, Zoey Barton, Levi Werner, Levi Weidendorf and Gage Owen head down the initial straightaway towards the first turn. Buffalo Creek BMX runs races at the track every Tuesday night (weather permitting) beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Panther tennis falls in opener

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ tennis team opened the 2019 season with a 6-1 loss at St. Peter on Friday, Aug. 16.
GSL’s No. 2 doubles tandem of Jenna Trippel and Lauren Terlinden claimed the Panthers’ lone victory of the competition. The pair topped the Saints’ Raina Roemhildt and Molly Voeltz in three sets: 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.

GSL gears up for fall season

While the weather hasn’t quite shown it just yet, autumn has come to the area in the form of the fall sports season.
Glencoe-Silver Lake athletic teams are gearing up for the start of their new campaigns, or in one case, has already commenced the fall season.
The Panther girls’ tennis team began its fall season with a dual meet at St. Peter last week, and hosted an annual quadrangular tournament to begin this week.
GSL’s netters waste no time diving headlong into their campaign, with two more dual meets this week and an invitational tourament his weekend.

Trailblazer moves towards expansion in Wright County

On Thursday, the Trailblazer Transit Board approved a bevy of motions with the sole purpose of supporting its future expansion endeavors into Wright County — a move Executive Director Gary Ludwig says will benefit all Trailblazer entities, McLeod County included.
