Restroom renovation project is a go at Glencoe City Center

With enough money available thanks to the city and private donors, the project to complete work on two additional restrooms on the west end of Glencoe City Center’s main floor is expected to begin in earnest after the holidays.
Monday afternoon, Oct. 14, during a city council workshop, councilors heard a report of a plan to use Glencoe-based Rice Companies to manage construction of the two restrooms.

County agrees to joint powers agreement with SWMDTF, changes funding sources

McLeod County Attorney Michael Junge explained at a county board meeting Tuesday, Oct. 8, the renewed Southwest Metro Drug Task Force (SWMDTF) Joint Powers agreement requires an increase in membership dues to stray from relying on forfeitures to fund budgetary increases within the task force.

Stewart discusses MNSPECT contract, construction retainage

The Stewart City Council made brief work of a diverse agenda at a meeting Monday night, Oct. 14. Council members discussed MNSPECT contract issues and voted to retain 2.5 percent from the 2018-2019 infrastructure improvement project.

Marion Ische, 88, of Glencoe

Marion D. Ische, age 88 of Glencoe passed away Thursday, Sept. 26 at GlenFields in Glencoe.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe with Rev. Dan Welch officiating.
Visitation was held from 9 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the church with interment following in the church cemetery.

Evelyn Truesdale, 94, of Glencoe

Evelyn Emma Brinkman Truesdale, 94, of Glencoe, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe.
Services celebrating the life of Evelyn will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Friends are invited to visit with the family after services in the church fellowship hall. Evelyn’s wishes were to be cremated. Her ashes will be buried at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
Pastor Peter Adelsen will be the officiating clergy.
Yvonne Schuette will be the organist and Tim Proebl will sing “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Donald Bohnert, 70, of Glencoe

Donald Francis Bohnert, 70, of Glencoe, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, October 18, 11 a.m., Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with interment in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe.
The Rev. Anthony Stubeda will be the officiating clergy.
Sue Mielke will be the pianist and Teresa Kuester the song leader.
“Gather Us In,” “Give Me Jesus,” “You Are Mine,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am, Lord” and “On Eagle’s Wings” are the musical selections.

Claire Osmek, 77, of rural Glencoe

Claire Ann Osmek, 77, of rural Glencoe passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis.
She was born May 12, 1942, in St. Paul, the daughter of Joseph F. and Genevieve Stoffel.
On December 28, 1963, Claire Ann Stoffel and Leo Joseph Osmek were joined in holy marriage at St. Andrew Catholic Church in St. Paul. God blessed their marriage with two sons.

Lucille Yukel, 93, of Hutchinson

Lucille Yukel, 93, of Hutchinson, formerly Silver Lake, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Woodstone Senior Living Community in Hutchinson.
A funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in the Grace Bible and Presbyterian Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Pastor Dave Wollan was the officiating clergy.
Sharon Barton was the organist with “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” as the special music.
“Borning Cry” and “How Great Thou Art” were the congregational hymns.
