Persons owning or occupying real estate adjoining any Glencoe Township maintained roads, shall be required to cut or destroy all weeds, grasses, and any brush growing on the town right of way, adjacent to their land by November 1, 2019. Failure to do so, the Glencoe Town Board will mow the weeds and grasses and such expenses will be assessed against their real estate.

Melvin Fasching, 85, of Glencoe

Melvin “Mel” Joseph Fasching, 85, of Glencoe, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, at his home in Glencoe, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 11, 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, 4 to 7 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, and will continue one-hour prior the service at the church Friday.
Pastor Katherine Rood will be the officiating clergy.
Peg Hatlestad will be the organist and soloist Nathan Fasching will perform “I Can Only Imagine.”

Tennis drops first-round team section to Giants, looks forward to individuals

GSL’s No. 3 doubles players Lauren Terlinden and Jenna Trippel battled to try to take a few sets from the Giants’ No. 3 doubles players Morgan Jones and Darbi Dunning. Terlinden and Trippel didn’t come out on top, dropping the first two sets.

A Fire Safety Week visit

Tri-Valley’s center manager looking to life’s next chapter

Eliza Tobon (seated, center), the outgoing manager of Tri-Valley Opportunity Council Head Start facility in Glencoe has spent the last four years surrounded by children and families the Head Start program serves. Today, Oct. 9, is Tobon’s last day. She will be remembered for increasing awareness of the program and helping to increase attendance.

First Ev. Lutheran walks for non-public education

First Evangelical Lutheran Principal Dean Scheele led a group of about 150 students and adults from the school to Oak Leaf Park Friday afternoon, Oct. 4. Students raised about $11,500 in pledges for the annual Marathon for Non-Public Education. The money will likely go toward the school’s STEM room and textbooks, Scheele said.

Boys cross-country takes 13th at Litchfield Invitational

The Panthers’ top runners Connor Hallaway and Paul Sievert took off from the start line at the Litchfield Golf Course Thursday, Oct. 3, with teammates trailing closely.
