Melvin H. Dose, 91, of Glencoe, passed away Wednesday, July 29, at his home in Glencoe.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
A private family graveside service will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe for disabled American veterans in Hutchinson.

GLENCOE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
JUNE 15, 2020
7:00 P.M.

Mayor Wilson called the regular meeting of the city council to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present: Neid, Alexander, Robeck, Lemke and Schrupp. Also present: City Administrator Mark Larson, City Attorney Mark Ostlund, Finance Director Trippel, Ass’t City Administrator Lynn Neumann, Captain Padilla, PWDs Voigt and Schreifels.
Councilor Alexander motioned to approve the consent agenda as presented. Councilor Lemke seconded. All members voted in favor.

Voss files for Glencoe mayor in second day of filing period

Business owner Ryan Voss has filed to run for Glencoe mayor in the coming election.
Voss, who owns RDV Construction, filed candidacy papers Wednesday, July 28, at Glencoe City Center.
In Glencoe, the mayor’s seat and council member positions held by Cory Neid and Milan Alexander are up for election in the November general election.
The filing period runs through Aug. 11.

GSL School Board
Director Jamie Alsleben, the GSL School Board’s chairperson, also filed candidacy papers Wednesday, July 28.


Brownton field renovations to finish around late August

Arnold Oie, 96, of Glencoe

On Sunday, May 9, in Glencoe, Arnold Joseph Oie, at the age of 96, was called to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Prior to his passing, he had been surrounded by the love of his family.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held Monday, Aug. 10, 11 a.m., at Grace Bible Church in Silver Lake. Everyone who loved Arnie can gather for fellowship to honor his blessed memory. The service will be live-streamed on the church’s website http://silverlakechurch.org/ and a private family interment will be held in the church cemetery.


GlenFields staff gets creative to keep residents feeling connected

Thanks to relaxed guidelines, residents at GlenField s Living with Care in Glencoe are now able to enjoy outdoor visits with family and friends ones while observing social distancing. In the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, residents and staff struggled with feeling isolated because visitors were not permitted.

Columbarium brick work

Jerrod Fisher, a project coordinator, with Magnolia Landscape & Design Co. of Cologne, recently installed bricks at the base of a columbarium at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe. The company has been working on the project during July and is moving toward completion. The columbarium is on the north side of the church property.

Bruins face Mayer in playoffs

Brownton’s Grant Baumetz (16) trots home with the Bruins’ lone run Sunday in a 5-1 loss to Cologne. He scored when teammate Jon Werner (10) was hit by a pitch. Baumetz was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning.
