City OKs pay raise for non-union staff

Thanks to favorable insurance rates for 2021, the Glencoe city staff won’t have to worry as much about the raise the city council approved for the coming year gobbled up by premium increases.
In its final meeting of 2020, the city council was divided over the size of pay increase to approve for its 31 non-union employees. The council considered increases ranging from 1.6 percent to 3 percent, finally settling on 2¼ percent. The council approved the raise by a 3-2 vote with councilors Milan Alexander and Allen Robeck casting the opposing votes.

Silver Lake approves 2021 levy increase

The Silver Lake City Council approved a $549,412 tax levy, 1.75 percent increase from 2020, following its truth-in-taxation hearing Monday, Dec. 21. The 2020 levy was set at $539,865.
The final levy amount is a significant decrease from the $572,796 or 6.53 percent preliminary tax levy increase approved by the council in September. The increase could create a slight reduction in the city’s share of the tax bill, said ity Clerk Jon Jerabek.
