Getting to know the Coaches

Jeff Monahan
Head Coach of
Girls Basketball

Tell us a little about yourself.
I have been coaching at GSL since 2012 and coached JV for 4 years. I applied for varsity in 2016 and have been the head coach since.

What inspired you to become a Head Coach?
You know I applied for the JV job in 2012 and was hoping to be on Zach Otto Fischer’s staff for years as the JV coach. Learning from Zach and being around his program for 4 years, and when he moved onto college. I thought it was the right fit and time to apply, and having 4 girls in the program helped that decision.

Trailblazer Transit health insurance

On October 6 at the Trailblazer Joint Powers Board meeting, Rich Westlund of Westlund Associates, Inc. presented options for health insurance for 2023. Under the current plan the board was looking at a 28% increase in premiums for the current fully insured group health plan Trailblazer offered in 2022. After a long discussion the board decided that a double-digit increase in health premiums was not a financially sustainable option and decided to look for alternatives for 2023.
