Seniors abound on baseball squad

If you’re looking for senior leadership on this spring’s Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball
team, you sure won’t have to look far.
There are 13 seniors on this season’s 21-player varsity roster – an abundance of
experience as the team looks to put together a successful 2019.
Three of those seniors have been named captains: Andrew Wraspir, Dane Schwirtz
and Gabe Roepke.
The senior class looks to lead GSL one step further than last season and return the
Panthers back to the state tournament for the first time since 2016.

Softball team set for successful season

After hovering around the .500 mark last season, the Glencoe-Silver Lake softball
team is looking to break through in the 2019 season.
“We are ready,” coach Steve Davis said. “We are always excited to start another
season and we have a great group of student athletes.”
There are 11 players on this year’s team returning with varsity experience,
including five seniors, on the 13-player varsity roster.
Back from last year is the battery of Brianna Wraspir and Kasidy Cacka, with Kaitlyn
Uecker, Lily Schmitt and Hannah Boesche also returning to the infield. In the outfield

Girls' golfers ready to hit the links

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ golf team returned to the links (nearly) on schedule
this season – a far cry from last April’s meteorological hijinx.
“Practice just isn’t the same inside,” coach Emily Forberg said.
Winter released its grip on time for the Panthers to get in a meet on Monday, April 8.
However, a snowstorm forecast for later this week threatens to once again throw
the early season into flux.
“We’re supposed to be in New London-Spicer on Thursday and Litchfield on Friday...
we’ll see,” Forberg said with a cringe.
