Funeral notice: William Heuer, 62

William “Bill” F. Heuer, 62, of Glencoe, MN, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at his home in Glencoe.
A memorial service will take place Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with interment following in the Christ Lutheran Church Columbarium.
A gathering of family and friends will take place Thursday, April 25, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church.

Panthers start the season a perfect 3-0

Plato - The Panthers got a dazzling pitching performance from their junior ace Luke Roepke to secure a win in the teams season opener on Thursday, April 11.
Roepke pitched a complete seven inning game, allowing only one hit, while striking out six Annandale batters.
“All of my pitches worked, I could throw them all for strikes, hit spots whenever I wanted to, just an on day,” Roepke said, “I thought my command was the best its ever been.”


Stuewe takes first, team takes second at GCC

Glencoe - The Panther girls golf team got off to an excellent start, finishing in second place at the first of four, 18- hole Wright County Conference West meets. The Panthers finished just two shots behind New London-Spicer at Mondays meet at the Glencoe Country Club.
New London-Spicer (409) and GSL (411) separated themselves from the field in the conference opener. Litchfield finished third with a score of 424.

Glencoe - The GSL Panther softball team rebounded nicely after their season opening loss to Rogers. The Panthers blanked conference adversary Annandale 7-0 in the Panthers home opener.
GSL starting pitcher Lydia Dietel fired a seven inning shutout, allowing only three hits, two walks, while striking out seven.

LaVerne A. Eurich, 86, of Glencoe, MN, wife of Chris, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with interment in the Christ Lutheran Church Columbarium.
A gathering of family and friends will take place Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 9 to 11 a.m., two hours prior to the service at the church.
Clergy officiating: Reverend Erik Karlson.

Shawn Christopher Davis, 52, of Hutchinson, MN, formerly of Glencoe, MN, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
A memorial service took place Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with interment following in the Christ Lutheran Church Columbarium.
Visitation took place Monday, April 15, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, and did continue one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday, April 16.
Clergy: Reverend Erik Karlson and Reverend Hans Peterson.

Bruce Allen Franke, 61, of Plato, MN, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, at his home in Plato.
A memorial service took place Monday, April 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, with interment following in the church cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends took place Sunday, April 14, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, MN, and did continue one hour prior to the service at the church Monday, April 15.
Clergy who officiated: Pastor Tyson Mastin.
Organist: Yvonne Schuette.


Randy Eischens, 58

Randy Eischens, 58, of Green Isle, MN, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Funeral services took place Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home, 141 First Street East, Waconia, MN. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a service at 7 p.m. with Father Jim Devorak as officiant.
Interment took place Wednesday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at the St. Pius X Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe, MN, with Father Matthew Wiering as officiant.


Highway 212 roundabout construction starting in May

The project is expected to cost approximately $5.1 million. MnDOT Construction Project Engineer for District 8 Ben Sandoz says they have a weather-dependent completion date of Aug. 30.

Update on newspaper publishing

As noted last week, the printing plant in Hutchinson currently used by Herald Journal newspapers is closing as of April 26.
We are currently reviewing proposals from other printers and are optimistic that printing and distribution will be able to continue without disruption, although there may be slight changes in timing.
