Death notice: Caroline Krone, 84

Caroline Krone, 84, of Gaylord, MN, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at Bayside Manor in Gaylord.
Visitation will take place Friday, March 15, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
A funeral service will take place Saturday, March 16, 2024, 11 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with interment in High Island Cemetery in New Auburn, MN.
Arrangements are with the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.

A funeral service will take place Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Church, rural Biscay, Hassan Valley Township, McLeod County, MN, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will take place Friday, March 22, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m., and will continue one hour prior to the service, all at the church.

McLeod Alliance’s Bowlathon raises nearly $11,000

The Bowlathon raised a total of $10,892 and saw 103 bowlers participate in the event.
Team HP Insurance won the Bowlathon raising $5,625 for the McLeod Alliance.

Local nonprofit to host annual gala and dancing contest for suicide prevention and mental health

2B Continued, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will host its fourth annual gala to benefit suicide prevention and mental health awareness on April 13 at the Glencoe City Center.
The gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will feature “Dancing Like The Stars”, an event where 12 couples from McLeod, Carver, Sibley, Wright, Renville, Nicollet, and Brown County will perform a dance routine for a competition that raises money and awareness for the organization.

Public hearing on municipal storm sewer system held at Glencoe City Council meeting

During Glencoe City Council’s Monday meeting, Glencoe Public Works Director Mark Lemen delivered a presentation to the council for an annual public hearing of the municipal separate storm sewer system, or MS4. The MS4 is a conveyance or system of conveyances such as roads with drainage systems, municipal streets, catch basins, curbs, gutters, ditches, and man-made channels owned or operated by a public entity designed to collect stormwater.

Glencoe appoints new deputy city clerk

The Glencoe City Council unanimously voted to appoint Haylie Kusler as deputy city clerk/administrative assistant during its Feb. 5 meeting. The city received 16 applicants for the position. Her first day on the job was Feb. 12.
Kusler holds an associate degree in business management from Rasmussen University and is expected to graduate this spring with an associate degree in accounting from Penn Foster.
