Fireworks over the lake

Kurt Frauendienst and his brother, Tadd, and children enjoyed fireworks over High Island Lake Saturday night, July 4. They were among several hundred people around the lake and in the area to enjoy the pyrotechnics show funded by the New Auburn Fire Department and New Auburn VFW.

Glencoe group encourages community to get in motion

Kerry Ward, a health educator for McLeod County Public Health, and Glencoe assistant city administrator Lynn Neumann are just two of the people involved in making Glencoe in Motion happen. The group is dedicated to helping people stay active and explore their community. It went public June 8 with its Facebook page and has activities and prizes in store for people.

Glencoe native Lonny Kocina and his wife, Robin, are using the promotion of artists to help people enjoy artwork while helping impoverished women and children in India.

Preserving history, Church of Peace ‘gifts’ its home

The Church of Peace congregation has given its church home on East 11th Street to Buffalo Creek Community Church. Buffalo Creek Community Church has been meeting in leased space at GSL Schools facilities. With a congregation that’s aging but declining in numbers, the congregation at Church of Peace gifted the property because it can’t maintain the facility any longer.
