Brownton taking bids, quote on public works projects previously set aside

Thanks to lower-than-expected costs, Brownton is wrapping up its 2018 public works project this summer with four remaining projects.
Tuesday, May 19, the city council held a special meeting to approve sending the remaining projects out for bids and quotes. The bids and quotes are due back June 26. Councilors unanimously agreed to send them out. They still have the opportunity to decline approval if the bids and quotes come back too high.

The two cities have discussed various ideas over the last couple of months as to how the two departments might come together.

GSL Community Ed. trying to set course for summer

Last week, the Glencoe-Silver Lake School District received word it might be able to conduct summer recreation, sports and educational programs. Now all the district needs to do is figure out how to do it within the state’s guidelines.
How do you run a summer STEM program efficiently and economically when you can’t have more than 10 people involved? Or is it 250 people?

Brewers have on-again, off-again place in city history

It’s a team with an intermittent past, one that has been in and out of the headlines and in and out of state tournament play. Today, the Glencoe Brewers just want to play.
The Brewers, like the other town baseball teams in Minnesota, await word from the Minnesota Baseball Association as to when its players can take the field for games during the coronavirus pandemic. Players from some area teams have been informally practicing in small groups. They are hoping the next round of relaxed guidelines will allow them to hold games, possibly beginning next month.
