Volunteers needed for garden maintenance

The group of volunteers who maintain municipal gardens around the city is looking for assistance from others interested in gardening.
Individuals or groups willing to adopt specific gardens are welcome to take care of the gardens. A group of Girl Scouts has adopted the garden in the park just northwest of the intersection of Morningside Drive and Highway 212 near the memorial monument. Most of the gardens have perennials planted in them, plants that require some occasional trimming. The team of volunteers that waters the baskets downtown would provide water for the city-owned gardens.

Glencoe dirt track racer looking forward to another checkered flag

He wants to win as much as the next person, but it’s the fun of racing and the camaraderie shared with other drivers and their pit crews that makes the time and effort worthwhile.
