The work will be accomplished through a single contract with McLeod County, with True North Consulting Group acting as the Project Manager.

Jaskowiak runs rampant in blowout victory

Glencoe-Silver Lake sophomore running back Mitch Jaskowiak breaks off a 74-yard touchdown run – one of four scores he tallied in a 41-7 win at Watertown-Mayer Friday, Sept. 6. Jaskowiak rushed for 288 yards in all.

Site preparation

Workers continued preparing the site for the new Kwik Trip in Glencoe. Wednesday, Sept. 4, several double-walled fuel tanks as large as 20,000 gallons were placed between slabs of concrete to keep the tanks stable. Work have also included installing drainage pipe for storm water runoff at the site. Kwik Trip plans to open in mid-December.

All-School Reunion donation

Tim Olson of the Brownton All-School Reunion Committee donated $1,000 of excess reunion funds to the Brownton Fire Department. Accepting the check were councilors Lori Copler and Jesse Messner.

GSL drops overtime thriller to Crusaders

Glencoe-Silver Lake midfielder Hope Kosek connects from the penalty spot to give the Panthers a brief 2-1 lead at Mayer Lutheran Saturday, Sept. 7. The Panthers fell, 3-2, in overtime to drop to 2-3 on the year.

A little downtown pizzazz – Crosswalk painting party Saturday

Mike Drew (left), Gabby Fountain and members of downtown revitalization subcommittee will welcome people to a crosswalk painting event Saturday morning (Sept. 14) at the intersection of East 11th Street and North Greeley Avenue.

2019 Homecoming royalty candidates

The 2019 Glencoe Silver Lake homecoming candidates were announced this week. The seniors selected by the student body are, first from left, Jose Mendoza, Will Higgins, Zach Mohr, Brandon Holmers and Bennet Lepel. Second row, Claire Witte, Kaitlyn Popp, Lily Schmitt, Alexa Alberts and Sydney Lepel. The homecoming king and queen will be crowned at the coronation ceremony Monday, Sept. 16, 8 p.m. in the Glencoe-Silver Lake High School Auditorium.

Netters take seventh at Brainerd tourney

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ tennis team battled on last week, yet still finds itself without a win to show for the team’s efforts.
GSL fell 6-1 to visiting Mound-Westonka on Thursday, Sept. 5. The squad’s lone match win came at No. 1 doubles as Ella and Emma Malz rallied from a 3-6 deficit to win 6-3, 6-4 and claim the win in three sets.

Spikers 1-2 after another win, loss

It was a week of sweeps for the Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team, with one going the Panthers way and one going against.
GSL opened last week with a three-game win over visiting Sibley East, defeating the Wolverines 25-20, 26-24, 25-13, on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Miah Monahan led the Panthers with 13 kills, with fellow outside hitter Maren Roepke notching eight kills. Setter Hannah Boesche had 31 set assists and six service aces to lead the team in both categories.
