Softball stings Chargers in throwback game

It was an impromptu throwback day for the Glencoe-Silver Lake softball team on Tuesday, April 16. Despite sun-soaked conditions, a mucky home field at GSL High School prompted a move back to the team's former home at Oak Leaf Park.
The Panthers celebrated the move – and a chance to play on a sunny and warm afternoon for the first time this season – by swamping visiting Dassel-Cokato 10-2 to head into the Easter break with a spotless 3-0 record.

Panthers fall to Wildcats

It was a dandy day for a ballgame, but not the result the home side hoped for as the Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team took on New London-Spicer under sunny skies at Vollmer Field on Tuesday, April 16.
The dapperly-dressed visitors led from the start, scoring three runs in the first two innings en route to a 4-1 victory over the host Panthers.
The loss dropped GSL to 2-3 heading into the Easter break.
NLS scored a pair in the top of the first inning and added another in the away half of the second to take a 3-0 edge.

Boys’ track and field a couple laps in

With a few meets already under its belt, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ track and field team is beginning to hit its stride on the sprint that is the spring sports season.
“The team is looking good so far,” coach Josh Metcalf said. “The weather has improved greatly since the first two weeks of the season.”
The Panthers return five section finalists from last season’s squad, including Oscar Pena, Zach Mohr, Keaton Goettl, Will Higgins and Wyatt Konen.

Girls’ track and field off and running

With three top-three finishes in its three meets so far this season, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ track and field team is already off and running on the all-too quick spring campaign.
As with the majority of spring coaches, team leader Shawn Fettig is keeping one eye on the sky.
“The team is looking good so far,” he said. “We hope the weather will hold.”
The Panthers return 10 section finalists from last season, including: Hope Kosek, Kendall Guerrero, Malayh Metcalf, Grace Garoutte, Maddy Lemke, Holly Bandemer, Rhyan Herrmann, Emily Graupman, Olivia Lemke and Abigale Boetel.
