Car fire

Glencoe firefighters were dispatched to a report of a car fire Friday, Feb. 15, around 11:45 a.m. Fire was detected in the engine compartment of a vehicle parked in a chiropractor’s parking lot on the 1700 block of East 10th Street. Glencoe Fire Chief Cory Scheidt said the fire did not reach the vehicle’s interior. Scheidt suspects an electrical malfunction in the engine compartment started the fire.

Lakeside Winterfest

Students at Lakeside Elementary School in Silver Lake celebrated Winterfest last week. Friday, Feb. 15, students spent the day on the lake. Nolan Vinkemeier pulled Yasleen Ignacio-Manzanares while other students tried ice fishing and other fun activities on the lake.

Sandra Frauendienst, 75, of Arlington, formerly of Glencoe, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, at her home in Arlington.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

Donald Ranzau, 79, of Hutchinson

Donald Louis Ranzau, age 79 of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Tony Stubeda as celebrant. Interment with military rites will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

Notice is hereby given to the residents of Sumter Township, County of McLeod, and State of Minnesota, that the Annual Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019.
The Annual Meeting will convene at 7 p.m. at the Brownton Community Center, Brownton, MN to conduct all necessary business prescribed by law including setting a levy.
In case of inclement weather, the meeting may be postponed until the third Tuesday in March.
