A real-life lesson on counting ‘blessings’

To the editor,
Kudos to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who was booed and harassed at a D.C. restaurant because he backed Supreme Court candidate, Brett Kavanaugh.
As Mr. Cruz and his wife were leaving the establishment, he said to the protestors, "Bless you." According to Jesus, in Luke 10, (The Living Bible) as he was giving instructions to other disciples to go to towns and villages to spread the Gospel, said in verse 5: "Whenever you enter a home, give it your blessing. If it is worthy of the blessing, the blessing will stand; if not, the blessing will return to you."

McLeod County finalizing details on 2019 property tax levy

In last week’s edition of The Chronicle, it was misreported that the county set its preliminary levy at $52 million.
The county, at a special meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25, set the 2019 preliminary levy at $22,614,592, a 7.1 percent increase from last year, which adds $1.5 million in revenue for the county — of which, $1.1 million is slated for an increase in 2019 personnel costs.

GSL elementary students taking early look at STEM

A year ago, second-graders at Lincoln Elementary School in Glencoe were getting used to all-day elementary school. Last week, they learned about different materials’ ability to conduct heat and insulate a frozen item.
That’s a lot of progress in a single year.
