At 78, her road to graduation a journey worth completing
There was no reason to doubt Kay (Lacher) Husfeldt had the intelligence to finish her bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota. She had managed several large, multi-faceted organizations with statewide reach, held elected office, and had managed a large suburban apartment complex.
Why couldn’t she be a college graduate?
Kay Lacher graduated from Blue Earth High School with the class of 1961. Uncertain of what career path to take, she attended Minnesota School of Cosmetology in Mankato. Although her aunt, Gloria Harris, was a beautician, the primary thing Lacher learned was she didn’t care for the school.
“Everybody smoked and everybody drank,” she said.
