Allen Edward Heil, 81, of Glencoe

Allen Edward Heil, 81, of Glencoe, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 10, at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Ronald Mathinson officiating.
Dawn Wolter was the organist. Congregational hymns were “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “How Great Thou Art” and “O God, Our Help in Ages Past.”
Military honors were by Glencoe VFW Post 5102.
Honorary urn bearers were his grandchildren, Rebekah Hubbard, Joe Kocina, Adam Heil, Alex Kocina, Jacob Heil, Aaron Heil and Josh Heil. Interment was in the First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
Allen Edward Heil was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Gaylord, Sibley County. He was the eldest son of Clarence and Martha (Lemke) Heil. He was baptized as an infant on Dec. 4, 1932, by the Rev. William Ulrich at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, and confirmed in his faith as a youth on June 2, 1946, by the Rev. Gerhard Schmidt, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton.
He attended school in Brownton and was a graduate of the Brownton High School class of 1950.
Mr. Heil entered active military service in the U.S. Army on Nov. 6, 1952, and served his country in Japan during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 21, 1955. Upon arriving home safely, he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.
On May 10, 1958, Mr. Heil was united in marriage to Doris Hepner by the Rev. Fellwock at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with three children, James, Jay and Julie. The Heils shared over 56 years of marriage.
Mr. Heil worked in the water well drilling business until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. He also was a member of Glencoe VFW Post 5102 and the National Rifle Association (NRA). In 1991, he was inducted into the Minnesota Trapshooting Hall of Fame.
Mr. Heil enjoyed going out west hunting, riding his motorcycle around the country, trapshooting and sporting clays shooting. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Heil of Glencoe; children, James (Vanda) Heil of Wichita, Kan., Jay (Carolyn) Heil of Brownton and Julie (Sam) Kocina of Savage; grandchildren, Rebekah (Dave) Hubbard of Portland, Ore., Adam Heil of Wichita, Kan., Alex Kocina of Savage, Jacob (fianceé Cate Dunn) Heil of Wichita, Aaron Heil of Wichita and Josh Heil of Brownton; brother, Robert (Karen) Heil of Brownton; brother-in-law, Arnie Hepner of Hackensack; sisters-in-law, Phylliss Hager of Glencoe and Elvera Hofmann of Maple Plain; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Martha Heil; brother, Donald Heil; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Phillip and Annie Hepner.
