Ann Backen, 78, of Minnetonka, died Sunday, May 19.
A longtime employee with the Hennepin County Library System, she was an active volunteer at the Church of St. Therese of Deephaven. She enjoyed gardening and singing with groups at church.
Mrs. Backen is preceded in death by her husband, Bob.
She is survived by children, Pat (Kathy), Dan and Beth (Keith Lockwood) Backen; grandchildren, Robert and Jenny.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11a.m. Friday, May 24 at the Church of St. Therese of Deephaven, 18325 Minnetonka Blvd., Wayzata, with interment at St. Pius X Cemetery, Glencoe at 3 p.m.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W. Broadway, and again one hour prior to Mass Friday at church.
In honor of her caregivers, memorials are preferred to the Medical Careers Pathways at The International Institute of Minnesota. The Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel handled the arrangements. Its website is gearty-delmore.com where online obituaries and a guestbook is available.
