Baseball winning streak hits eight games
A four-win week doubled the Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team’s current winning streak to eight games as the Panthers entered this week with an 11-2 overall record.
GSL entered into a first-place tie atop the Wright County Conference West standings with a 7-2 league mark.
The Panthers are tied with Mound Westonka – the last team to defeat GSL, back on April 18 – atop the West as the two teams prepared to play one another on Tuesday, May 9, after the Chronicle went to press.
Last week’s quartet of victories began with a 3-0 blanking of visiting Watertown-Mayer on Tuesday, May 2.
Starting pitcher Peyton Sell, coming off a no-hitter in his previous start, earned his second-straight shutout with six innings of four-hit ball.
Luke Frahm relieved Sell in the seventh and extinguished a bases-loaded, no-out jam for a well-earned save.
