Berniece Whitaker, 91, of Norwood Young America

Berniece Ann (Trigg) Whitaker

Berniece Ann (Trigg) Whitaker, 91, of Norwood Young America, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Good Samaritan Society in Arlington.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 2, 11 a.m., at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America, with interment at a later date.
Pastor Eli Somers was the officiating clergy.
Jan Meyers was the organist.
“How Great Thou Art” and “On Eagle’s Wings” were the congregational hymns.
Berniece Ann (Trigg) Whitaker was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Colman, S.D. She was the daughter of Lenzy and Anna (Bruns) Trigg.
Berniece was united in marriage to Larry Whitaker at the Presbyterian Church in Holland April 29, 1955. They made their home in Pipestone, Holland, Milaca, Le Sueur, Glencoe, and Norwood Young America.
Berniece and Larry’s life was blessed with five children, Larry, Garry, Terry, Donald, and Steve. Berniece and Larry shared over 63 years of marriage.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Berniece and Larry owned and operated a bakery in Le Sueur and Norwood until 1990 when she retired. She also helped her husband on their farm. Berniece was a member of Church in the Maples/United Methodist Church in Norwood Young America, where she volunteered for the flower sale and food shelf.
Mrs. Whitaker enjoyed baking, playing cards, canning, sewing, knitting, gardening and flowers. She loved to go fishing and watch the Minnesota Twins. Mrs. Whitaker treasured her family and the time spent with her family and friends.
Mrs. Whitaker passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Good Samaritan Society in Arlington, at the age of 91 years and 22 days. Blessed be her memory.
Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her husband, Larry Whitaker; children, Larry Whitaker and his wife, Dawn, Garry Whitaker, Terry Reinitz and her husband, Robert, Donald Whitaker and his wife, Lisa; eight grandchildren, Aaron Whitaker and his wife, Meranda, Jason Reinitz and his wife, Jami, Jeremy Reinitz and his wife, Summer, Jerad Reinitz, Samantha Shefveland and her husband, Chad, Derek Whitaker and his wife, Kayla, David Whitaker and his wife, Olivia, Daniel Whitaker; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marian Trigg, Darlene Meyer; brother, Bob Trigg and his wife, Lorraine; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Trigg, Jean Trigg; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Whitaker is preceded in death by her parents, Lenzy and Anna Trigg; son, Steve Whitaker; siblings, Earl Trigg, Ray Trigg, Leonard Trigg; brother-in-law, Ernie Meyer; sister-in-law, Donna Trigg.
