Blue Jays batter Brownton

It was the team’s only game of the first half of June, but the Plato Blue Jays made it count with an 11-2 win at Brownton on Wednesday, June 6.
Plato never trailed in the contest, scoring three runs in the top of the second inning, and then going on to blow open a 6-2 contest with a five-run ninth inning en route to the win.
The Blue Jays’ pitching combination of starter Chris Odegaard and reliever Adam Prehn combined to allow just six hits, one walk and two earned runs while striking out 10. Odegaard claimed the win, Prehn notched a four-inning save.
Prehn was also Plato’s leading hitter in the game, accounting for three hits and three runs scored in five at-bats.
Matt Odegaard went 3-for-5, while Kyle Panning was 2-for-5 with two runs scored; each had two runs scored and one RBI. Tyler Lang had two RBI and two runs scored, while Chris Odegaard scored three times with one RBI.
Brownton’s runs both came in the second inning as a two-run double by Bryant Nordby plated both Mason Goettl and Michael Hahn. Hahn had the lone multi-hit game for the Bruins, going 2-for-3.
Brownton starter Josh Wendlandt was saddled with the loss.
The Bruins had a busier week than the Blue Jays, winning one of three games played.
Brownton topped Montrose-Waverly 8-6 on Friday, June 8, with Deryk Randy and Grant Baumetz logging two RBI apiece.
Daniel Rosenau claimed the win by pitching the final three innings in relief of Austin Thompson and Nordby.
The Bruins closed out the week with a 6-2 loss to Green Isle on Sunday, June 10.
