Brewers battling to finish .500 in CRVL
A split of its two post-Independence Day games gave the Glencoe Brewers an 11-8 overall record entering this week.
The Brewers opened their weekend with a 4-3 win against visiting Cologne on Friday, July 7.
Glencoe took the lead for good as Colt Trebesch and Teddy Petersen both scored in the opening inning. Brody Bratsch knocked in Derek Weber with an RBI single in the fifth, before Weber drove in Cameron Chap in the sixth.
The Brewers never trailed, with the Hollanders scoring once in the sixth and two more in the eighth. Cologne stranded the would-be tying run at third base in both the eighth and ninth innings as Glencoe eased its way to the narrow win.
Starting pitcher Cole Petersen threw seven innings with six strikeouts, scattering seven hits and one walk for the win; Tanner Grack netted the save by throwing the final two frames. Paxton Jordahl went 3-for-4, with Petersen going 2-for-4 at the plate.
