Brewers blank Cardinals
After four consecutive losses, the Glencoe Brewers had enough, ushering in an eight-game homestand with a 5-0 blanking of Young America on Thursday, June 4 at Vollmer Field.
The Brewers’ bats came alive in the victory, pounding out 12 hits while Glencoe starting pitcher Jaime Paumen allowed the Cardinals no more than a pair of base raps – one the fourth inning, the other in the ninth.
Paumen had a dandy day on the mound, allowing nary a run while striking out three batters with an equal number of walks.
Josh Kraby put Glencoe ahead for good with a two-out solo home run in the first inning to start a 2-for-4 day.
Paxton Jordahl doubled the Brewers’ lead in the second inning, singling to lead off the frame and then scoring on a two-out base hit by Cole Petersen.
