Brewers defeat Winsted

A 5-3 win at Winsted gave the Glencoe Brewers a brief respite between losing streaks. While the win on Wednesday, June 20, snapped a three game skid, two more defeats followed as Glencoe entered this week with a 5-8 record.
Starting pitcher Derek Bratsch earned the victory at Winsted, scattering nine hits, a walk and three runs (two earned) over six innings, while striking out five. Tanner Grack came on for a three-inning save, allowing just one hit and one walk with six strikeouts.
Derek Weber had two RBI and one run scored while also stealing a base. Tyler Chap went 3-for-4, while Gannon Jordahl went 2-for-5.
The Brewers returned home for a Glencoe Days game against Plato, falling to the Crow River Valley League-leading Blue Jays 10-0.
Glencoe managed just three hits in the game, one apiece from Colt Trebesch, Cameron Chap and Jordahl. No Brewers runner advanced past second base in the seven-inning contest.
Peyton Sell started on the mound for the Brewers, taking the loss after 3-2/3 innings of work. Alex Romano and Aaron Boraas also saw time toeing the rubber for Glencoe in the loss.
The Brewers followed up that defeat with a 12-5 setback against visiting New Germany on Sunday, June 24. Statistics for that game were not available as the Chronicle went to press.
Glencoe is scheduled to continue a five-game homestand as St. Boni visits Vollmer Field on Wednesday, June 27. The Saints blanked the Brewers 10-0 on May 28. Watertown is slated to visit Glencoe on Sunday, July 1.
