Brewers enter playoffs on a skid

After closing out the regular season with a pair of losses, the Glencoe Brewers began the Region 7C playoffs this week against Waconia.

Game 2 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Waconia. If necessary, a deciding contest is slated for 2 p.m. Sunday in Waconia.
The Brewers wrapped up their regular season with a 7-15 overall record and a 5-12 mark in Crow River Valley League play after dropping its final two pre-playoff contests last week.
Glencoe lost 5-1 in a non-league game at Belle Plaine on Tuesday, July 17. The hosts took the lead for good in the second inning, with the Brewers scoring just once in the eighth inning on a home run by Paxton Jordahl.
Jordahl and Brody Bratsch had two hits apiece to pace their squad’s seven-hit attack.
Starting pitcher Alex Romano took the loss, despite allowing just two hits and two earned runs as Glencoe committed six errors in the game.
The Brewers recorded three more errors in a 6-2 defeat to visiting Winsted in the regular-season finale.
Starting pitcher Jaime Paumen allowed just two earned runs over six innings with nine strikeouts, but was tagged with the loss.
Bratsch drove in both of Glencoe’s runs, with Cameron Chap and Derek Weber each scoring once in the contest.
