Brewers out-slugged down the stretch
Heading into the Crow River Valley League playoffs, the Glencoe Brewers are facing a tough challenge, the need for more offense and better pitching as they prepare for the opener of a three-game series.
The Brewers will open the league playoffs tonight, July 29, 7:30 p.m., at Green Isle. They’ll face the Irish again Friday, July 31, 7:30 p.m., at Vollmer Field. If needed, a decisive third game will be played Sunday afternoon in Green Isle.
The Brewers finished the truncated season at 4-9. They dropped an 11-9 decision to Green Isle July 22. It was part of a four-game stretch where Glencoe was out-slugged by top teams in the conference.
After the setback to the Irish, the Brewers fell to Young America, 11-4, Thursday, July 23, followed by a 13-4 loss to Hamburg Friday, July 24, and Sunday’s regular-season finale, an 11-0 defeat against Watertown.
