Brownton Cabin Fever mystery dinner, ‘The Luck of the Irish,’ set for March 18

The Brownton Cabin Fever Days committee will present an Irish-themed mystery dinner this year, set for Saturday, March 18, the day after St. Patrick’s Day, at the Brownton Community Center.
Along with the annual mystery, which attendees help solve, a smoked pork chop meal will be served by the Brownton Lions Club.
This year’s mystery is “The Luck of the Irish,” and actually involves two mysteries — who stole the King of the Leprechauns’ pot of gold, and who killed the king’s goldsmith.
Among the suspects for both mysteries are:
Hendo Barrett, a leprechaun (Randy Templin), a mischievious leprechaun known for sneaking around and “keeping an eye on what’s going on.”
Maeve Barrett, Hendo’s wife (Becky Havelka), who supplements their income by sewing pointy hats for other elves, as she is never sure how her husband gets his income since she never sees him working.
Rory O’Hara, a leprechaun (Mark Cacka), a cobbler who makes shoes and boots for “other little people.”
Aileen O’Hara, Rory’s wife (Jill Bartels), who helps Rory by polishing the boots and shoes he makes.
Magee MacMahon, an Irish lad (Dave Sanken), a blacksmith by trade who makes horseshoes “for the little people as well as the normal folk.”
Tara Fitzgerald, an Irish lass (Deb Danielson), who knits sweaters and sells them at the market.
Malone MacSweeney, an Irish lad (Andrew Hermodson-Olsen), known for his mad fiddling skills at night and who tends sheep by day.
Bridget O’Connor, an Irish lass (Carol Dammann), who is a traditional dairy maid.
Desmond Laoghaire, the high king (Nathan Zellmann), who was greatly influenced by St. Patrick.
Mona Laoghaire, the king’s wife (Stacy Zellmann), who lives the life of luxury as a member of the royal court.
The crimes are investigated by the chief investigator (Whitey Sanken). Dean Katzenmeyer will be the host for the evening.
Tickets are available at the Brownton City Offices, Security Bank & Trust in Brownton and Glencoe, and at Five Star Financial in Hutchinson.
