Brownton falls at Young America
The Brownton Bruins suffered the team’s first loss of the season after coming up on the short side of a 6-1 loss at Young America on Friday, May 19.
On a brisk evening, the Cardinals heated up quickly with three runs in the first inning and two more in the third to take an insurmountable 5-0 lead.
Young America increased its edge to 6-0 before Brownton scored its lone run of the contest in the top of the sixth as Dylan McCormick drove home Nick Heller with an RBI single.
McCormick started on the mound for the Bruins and went the distance with nine strikeouts to go with seven hits, two walks and six earned runs allowed over eight innings.
Brownton was slated to play at Green Isle on Sunday, May 21, but the game was postponed due to a waterlogged field at Irish Yard.
The Bruins, now 3-1 on the season, are scheduled to host Plato at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night at Barney Tadsen Field.
