Bruins still atop CRVL

The Brownton Bruins posted yet another Crow River Valley League (CRVL) win Wednesday night, June 24, by edging Winsted in a 2-0 pitchers’ duel.
The team’s two aces — Dylan McCormick for Brownton and  Tony Kley for the Wildcats — battled it out on the mound as each threw complete games.
McCormick scattered three hits, fanned 13 and walked just one in his best performance yet this season, while Kley allowed two runs on five hits, struck out nine and walked two for the Wildcats.
The Bruins scored their first run in the bottom of the first on two outs. With one away, Matt Schwichtenberg hit into a fielder’s choice that recorded the second out. Bryant Nordby slammed a double to plate Nordby before the Wildcats recorded the third out of the frame.
Brownton carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth, when a pair of doubles netted the Bruins their second run of the game.
