Bruins top New Germany
The Brownton Bruins salvaged an otherwise rough stretch last week by winning 10-4 at New Germany on Sunday, June 18.
Brownton’s win came on the heels of midweek home losses to New Ulm and Young America as the Bruins entered this week with a 7-7 overall record.
Grant Baumetz all-but clinched Sunday’s with a pinch-hit three-RBI triple in the ninth inning, driving home Josh Dietz, Ryan Grams and Deryk Randt. Six other Bruin players logged one RBI each in the game.
Dietz and Grams both went 2-for-4 in the contest, with Deryk Randt going 2-for-5. Randt and Dietz each scored twice.
Brownton starter Dylan McCormick came within one out of a nine-inning complete game. He went 8-2/3 in the win, striking out 12 batters while allowing six hits, two walks and three earned runs.
