Care Connection, Disabled American Veterans partnership

The Care Connection Thrift Store and Hutchinson Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary continued their partnership on June 3 with a donation of $250 from the auxiliary to the Allina Health Hospice that runs the store.
Care Connection provides the DAV with unsold items from its store, which the DAV then sells through a partnership with Savers. The majority of the profit from these items goes to help disabled veterans in a variety of ways including free rides to appointments and access to medical equipment like wheelchairs. In return for this assistance, the DAVA donates to Care Connection’s hospice work.
The revenue from the store supports massage, music therapy and bereavement programs, according to Hospice Volunteer Coordinator Pam Ainslie. The hospice bereavement program supports families for 13 months after the death of a loved one.
