Chaska man injured in pickup-cycle crash

A Chaska man was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center Sunday after a pickup-motorcycle collision on Highway 19 near Sibley County Road 9. The accident was reported at 10:12 a.m.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Alan David Zacharias, 59, of Mankato, had stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 9 and Highway 19 and was proceeding across Highway 19 when he saw a 2014 Honda motorcycle, driven by Kenneth Richard Arnst, 63, of Chaska, at the last second, and tried to swerve to the right. The left-front corner of the pickup collided with the front-right part of the motorcycle.
Arnst was taken to the hospital in Arlington, and then flown by North Aircare to Hennepin County Medical Center. He suffered life-threatening injuries. Zacharias was not injured.
Arnst was not wearing a helmet, according to the state patrol. Zacharias was wearing his seat belt. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the Arlington police, fire and ambulance services.
