City Council, county commissioners discuss recycling bins location

McLeod County Commissioners Doug Krueger and Paul Wright joined the Glencoe City Council Monday night to discuss the recycling bins by the courthouse.
The city has asked the county to move the bins to a different spot that is not in the city’s downtown area. Both Mayor Randy Wilson and the Council have written letters to the county on the subject.
Krueger said he thinks the current location is the favored site. He has heard from his constituents that they do not want the bins moved. He said the downtown location provides better security and lighting, convenience and the county staff can monitor the containers.
The containers are always full when picked up and Wright said they are obviously being used.
Wilson said he has not heard that residents like the bins where they are.
“I can’t image that they need to be in that location,” he said.
