City Council makes annual appointments, designations

The city designated Security Bank and Trust Company as the depository of city funds and set council meetings for the first and third Mondays of each month at 7 p.m.
The Council also set fees for rental equipment and labor in 2016. City Administrator Mark Larson explained that most of the costs are the same, but reviewed the few changes.
Due to confusion of guests, the city is removing the non-resident rate at the aquatic center. To set off the loss of about $1,000, Larson proposed increasing the family rate from $125 to $130 and the individual rate from $60 to $65.
The labor rate in the street department was increased from last year to make sure it matched other departments and the shop rate changed to manage any necessary repairs.
The city changed the extra operator cost at the wastewater treatment plant to match overtime.
The Council accepted all changes with a 4-1 vote, with Council Member Allen Robeck voting no.  
The Council also reappointed several members to the various city commissions and boards and approved the meeting dates for the personnel and legislative committee on the first Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. and the finance and strategic planning committee for the fourth Wednesday at 4 p.m.
The members of the Council also approved the designation of council liaison to various city departments and appointed Council Member John Schrupp as vice president of the Council to fill in when the mayor is absent.
