City council OKs downtown pocket park
Hoping to transform an under-utilized alleyway into a place residents and shoppers can gather for relaxation while downtown, the Glencoe City Council approved a plan to transform open space into a pocket park as its July 20 meeting.
The park is along North Hennepin Avenue, adjacent to Gert & Erma’s Coffee Shop. Its main feature is a pergola with outdoor seating and overhead decorative lighting. Flowerpots, gabion benches and other accents would be utilized to create a community gathering spot.
