City wages fall behind the average
Hiring quality employees and keeping them is a constant battle for any employer and the City of Glencoe is no exception.
Over the last months, the Glencoe City Council and staff have discussed the best ways to attract quality candidates and retain them once they are hired. Competitive wages in one of those wages.
City department heads have heard that employees leave for higher wages elsewhere.
Earlier this year, city staff recommended do a wage study to identify where Glencoe sits in comparison to other communities in the wages. The cost of the proposed study was around $6,000.
The council declined the study, choosing instead to either conduct an inhouse study or wait for results from a voluntary survey performed by the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC).
