Claire Theresa Murray, 85, of Glencoe

Claire Theresa (Kerby) Murray, 85, of Glencoe, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Jan. 16, at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with the Rev. Paul Schumacher officiating. Sue Mielke was the organist and Kelly LeCrone was the song leader. Musical selections were “Here I Am, Lord,” “Eyes Have Not Seen,” “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman” and “Amazing Grace.”
Pallbearers were Ed Wendinger, Patti Bedell, Dennis Kahnke, Joyce Hallaway and Rita Thomas. Interment was in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery.
Claire Theresa (Kerby) Murray was born March 11, 1929, in Sheridan Township, Redwood County. She was the daughter of Tom and Anna (Kahnke) Kerby. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Catholic faith as a youth. She furthered her education by attending Mankato State University in Mankato, receiving a degree in elementary education.
On June 20, 1964, she was united in marriage to James Murray at the Church of St. Catherine in Redwood Falls. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Michael and Maureen. They shared over 50 years of marriage.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Murray was an elementary teacher from 1949 to 1967 at various locations in Minnesota and, after starting a family, she was a substitute teacher. She was a member of Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, where she served on the Council of Catholic Women and was a Catholic Aid and Catholic Daughter of America. She loved to host Bible studies at her home.
She enjoyed reading, embroidery and exercising, especially taking walks. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, James Murray of Glencoe; son, Michael Murray of Hutchinson; daughter, Maureen Murray of Pacifica, Calif.; brothers, Lawrence Kerby of Redwood Falls and Thomas Kerby of Mankato; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Anna Kerby; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Rita Murray; brother, John Kerby; sister Helen (Gilbert) Wendinger; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom Murray, Martha Murray and Mary Catherine Murray.
