Council votes to move forward with WWTP

Glencoe City Council opted to bypass a peer review of its $20 million to $23 million wastewater treatment plant project, and instead decided to continue on its schedule to call for plans and specifications on Aug. 20, open bids Oct. 17, award bids in November and begin construction next spring.
The action came after a City Council workshop session late last month in which an Iowa engineering firm was asked to give a second opinion on the cost of the Glencoe plans compared to construction of similar plants in Iowa for half the cost.
After that meeting, council members appeared to have their concerns answered by the Iowa representative.
