County administrator interviews completed
The interview process for the next McLeod County administrator is complete.
The county board interviewed three finalists for the open county administrator position Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Twenty-four applications were received for the position, open since Cindy Ford’s retirement last spring. Of the 24 applicants, six were selected for interviews with commissioners Doug Krueger and Joe Nagel and county staff. One applicant canceled.
Interim County Administrator Shelia Murphy, Clark Schroeder and Danielle Amira were interviewed by the full county board.
Each candidate was asked 13 questions that included the topics of successful budgets, dealing with the board, analyzation of information from different sources on projects, contract negotiations, financial management, community involvement, economic development and job creation, dealing with the news media, and experience with general obligation bonds. The candidates were also given the opportunity to ask questions of the board.
Murphy has worked as the deputy administrator for nearly two years and has been acting administrator for several months and has been living the position daily since June. She gave her first-hand knowledge and experiences of the position, her role as deputy administrator and past experiences in human resources in the private sector.
