County PAC won’t support solar garden request to county board
Many Winsted residents and two Winsted Township Board members voiced displeasure with a proposed one-megawatt solar garden proposed to be constructed in Winsted Township at a McLeod County Planning Advisory Commission (PAC) meeting Wednesday, July 24. Planning commissioners unanimously declined to recommend approval to the county board, which will take up the item at one of its August meetings.
If approved by the county board despite the recommendation from its PAC, the solar garden would take up approximately eight acres of land to the southwest in Winsted Township on the property owned by Brenda Torblaa. But it would be uncommon for the county board to go against the recommendation of its planning commission.
