County planning commission favors denial of solar gardens

Nokomis Energy of Minneapolis is seeking approval for a 1-megawatt solar garden similar to one on Cable Avenue just southwest of Winsted. The McLeod County Planning Commission recommended denial of the company’s two requests, citing farmland preservation. The solar garden on Cable was placed on less-than-prime farmland, said Marc Telecky, director of the McLeod County’s Environmental Services Department.
