County receives Legacy grant for improvements to east end of Dakota Trail
McLeod County has received a $647,000 grant for improvements to the Dakota Trail, the County Board learned at its Tuesday, Dec. 20, meeting.
Al Koglin, parks director, said the county has been trying for five to six years for a Legacy Fund grant for the trail.
“Creating a regional trail plan helped,” said Koglin.
However, Koglin noted, the amount awarded was not the full amount sought by the county. The $647,000 grant will pay for Phase 1, which will pave the trail from the Carver County border through the city of Lester Prairie.
