Cross-country teams run at Dassel-Cokato

The Glencoe-Silver Lake cross-country teams headed north to Collinwood Park in Cokato for the Dassel-Cokato Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
After a run around the 5,000-meter course, the Panther boys finished second and the girls took fourth out of eight teams competing at the meet.
Tony Fischer led the way for the GSL boys, finishing fifth overall in a time of 18 minutes, 2.50 seconds, as the Panthers tallied 53 points – just five short of Annandale’s meet-winning tally of 48.
Fischer led a contingent of three Panthers to finish in the top eight finishers. Connor Hallaway placed seventh in a time of 18:09.71, while Jakob Rusten took eighth in a time of 18:20.14.
Also accounting in GSL’s team score were Oscar Pena and AJ Anderson Sanchez, who took 16th and 17th, respectively, in times of 18:55.50 and 18:58.67.
Paul Sievert (19:16.36) and Joseph Knudten (19:16.97) finished back-to-back in 27th and 28th out of 57 total runners.
All five GSL girls to figure in the team scoring placed in the top half of the 52 total finishers as the squad nestled into fourth with 92 points.
Annandale won the girls’ competition with 44 points, with Rockford taking third at 81 points.
Maddie Lemke led the Panthers with a 13th-place time of 21:42.18, followed by Ellie Schmidt in 16th at 22:05.19.
Megan Siewert was 19th in 22:16.08, Malayh Metcalf 21st in 22:24.62 and Kendall Guerrero 25th in 22:59.39. Guerrero’s time counted as 24th-place in the team competition.
Also running for GSL were Abigale Boetel (24:01.62) and Brittney Richter (26:20.93) in 42nd and 49th, respectively.
This Thursday, the Panthers are scheduled to head to Litchfield Golf Course for an invitational meet before the squads travel to Duluth for the Swain Invitational on Saturday.
