David Fred Micka, 86, of Silver Lake

David Micka
David Fred Micka, 86, of Silver Lake, formerly of Plymouth, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care Center.
 
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Carol Chmielewski officiating. Jacki Rossie was the organist and Barb Wawrzyniak was the soloist. Interment followed the service at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Silver Lake.
 
Mr. Micka was born March 9, 1929, in Silver Lake, the son of Fred and Rose (Jerabek) Micka. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1946.
 
On Nov. 22, 1952, David Fred Micka and Dorothy M. Paul were joined in holy marriage at Czech Brethren Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with three children.
 
Mr. Micka engaged in farming near Sherman Station for more than 20 years. He later was employed as a senior setup person for CTS.
 
Mr. Micka enjoyed the Minnesota Twins. He was a faithful member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake, where he formerly served as a deacon, in the Mariners and as an usher.
 
Mr. Micka is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy M. Micka; children, Randy Micka of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Nancy (Robert) Rantanen of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Joan Micka of Baltimore, Maryland; five grandchildren, David, Andy, Elisabeth, Andrea and Isaiah; sisters-in-law, Irene Micka of Hopkins, Joan Paul of Lester Prairie, Alice Paul of Silver Lake and Lillian Paul of Fridley; nephews, Curt Micka and DuWayne Paul; a niece, Shirley (Paul) Luhmann; and other relatives and friends.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Rose Micka; a brother, Richard Micka; and a niece, Carol Micka.
