Dennis Frederic Grack, 71, of Gaylord

Dennis Grack, 71, of Gaylord, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at his home.
 
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 25, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with the Revs. James King and Harold Storm officiating. Ben Holten was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Eternal Father! Strong to Save,” “Beautiful Savior” and “Onward, Christian Soldiers.”
 
The Gaylord Fire Department served as honorary casket bearers. Casket bearers were Ron Otto, Robert Bauer, Martin Kuphal Jr., Dean Schons, Mark Kuphal and Kenneth Uecker.
 
Interment was in the church cemetery.
 
Dennis Frederic Grack was born June 17, 1944, in Glencoe, the son of Halbert and Edna (Grochow) Grack. He was baptized as an infant on July 2, 1944, and confirmed in his faith as a youth on June 17, 1959, by the Rev. Harold Bode, both at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. He was a graduate of Gaylord High School.
 
On July 24, 1964, he was united in marriage to Karen Werner at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord. Mr. Grack was the head custodian at Gaylord High School and then at Sibley East, and was a school bus driver.
 
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and served in various positions, including with the men’s club and on the church council. He served on the Gaylord Fire Department for 30 years and was the assistant chief and chief for many years. He also served on the Gaylord City Council.
 
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, carpentry, gardening, dancing, polka music, playing the concertina and volunteering. He was a very active man and loved people. He loved spending time with his family,  especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 
He is survived by his wife, Karen Grack of Gaylord; children, Cindy (Randy) Bauer of Chaska, Dallas (Christine) Grack of Lafayette, Travis (Cathy) Grack of Gaylord, Jody Grack of Lakeville and Judy Grack of Lakeville; eight grandchildren, Tony and Emily Bauer, Josh, Jenna and Molly Fischer and Nicole, Andrew and Ashley Grack; great-grandchildren, Brock Bicknase and Adalynn Fischer; siblings, Sharon (Richard) Pomplun of Gaylord, Helen (George) Lhotka of Silver Lake, Orlin (Mavis) Grack of Gaylord, Marlin (Cherrie) Grack of Glencoe, Gerald (Linda) Grack of Le Sueur and Jolene (Don) Spaude of Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Halbert and Edna Grack; and brother, Howard Grack.
